Time to start planning for 2013!

The yard is green again!

Last weekend we got some of the outside gardens planted and then built a new chicken enclosure.  As much as I love the flock free-ranging the entire property, they have just been doing too much damage to the gardens.  This year we’ve expanded what we’re growing, creating many new areas that would need to be protected, making enclosing the gardens a much harder task than enclosing the chickens.

The horse fence we had set up in this upper area had to be removed and we will relocate it to the lower part of the property as soon as the rain stops..    The flock now has a very large partially shaded area in the woods and have adjusted to their new location just fine!
